Zuccardi: a vineyard, parcel by parcel

Piedra Infinita places differences within one Uco Valley site at the centre of winemaking.

A vineyard’s name can conceal several different conditions within the same boundary. Zuccardi’s work at Finca Piedra Infinita in Mendoza’s Uco Valley gives those smaller differences a central role.

Under Sebastián Zuccardi, parcels are vinified separately before decisions about the final wines. Supercal and Gravascal narrow the focus further, turning particular sections of the property into individual expressions.

The use of concrete rather than a strong oak signature keeps the production method aligned with that emphasis on place. Malbec becomes the variety through which the site is explored, rather than the whole story on the label.

Critical scores may draw attention to a bottle, but they do not explain its structure. The more useful question here is how a producer distinguishes areas of one landscape, and which choices allow those differences to remain perceptible in the wine.
