Garibaldi: Brazilian sparkling wine on its own terms

The Rosewood restaurant’s archive account placed producers and the kitchen ahead of the size of the cellar.

A wine list reveals its point of view through selection, not just scale. At Le Jardin, in Rosewood São Paulo, the Brazilian archive described a cellar designed to converse with the kitchen.
The July 2026 report recorded a fourth consecutive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. It described more than 450 Brazilian and international labels, with local producers sharing the list with natural, biodynamic and kosher wines. The mix was the significant detail: Brazil appeared as a wine-producing territory, not simply as the address where imported bottles were served.
Júlia Derado, the hotel’s wine director in the original account, led the selection. Regional representation and producers’ approaches to quality and sustainability informed the list, while pairings followed the seasonal ingredients of the restaurant.
The distinction therefore concerned a working relationship between bottle and plate. An extensive cellar can become a separate attraction; here, the archive’s emphasis was on how its choices supported a meal. Rosewood’s architecture and art already provided a setting. The wine programme added another way of reading place, one producer and one pairing at a time. The quantities and recognition belong to the original report, rather than a fresh inspection of the cellar.
