Grained leather and suede supplied the organising contrast for four everyday bag shapes.

Changing a material can change the attitude of a familiar shape. Louis Vuitton’s LV Touch collection, described in WAYFARER’s November 2025 archive, used grained calfskin and suede to soften its approach to everyday bags.
Under Pharrell Williams, the four-model line put texture ahead of an immediately dominant print. Black, brown and khaki versions carried the contrast between leather surfaces and suede details or linings. The effect depended on touch as much as silhouette.
The Steamer 30 revisited a bag originally designed to fit inside the house’s travel trunks. Its more flexible construction retained the historical reference while changing how it could be carried. A backpack version developed the same premise into another format.
A tonal suede front pocket carried a stitched V associated with Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s coat of arms. A V-shaped clasp and monogram-flower detail kept other house references within the construction. The Verso Hobo could reverse between grained leather and suede, with a removable pouch; the Delta Slingbag offered a crossbody alternative.
The archive’s useful thread is a shift from the traditional work briefcase towards less rigid forms. Function was not removed, but redistributed. The collection proposed a daily wardrobe organised around material and movement rather than a single formal outline.
