Primitivo: eight bungalows on the Alagoas coast
At Praia dos Morros de Camaragibe, a small hotel makes its case through the spacing between its buildings and the materials close at hand.

The 2023 archive describes a hotel organised around pink buildings, a central bassin and a carefully staged sequence of gardens.

Water gives Amanjena its organising image. In WAYFARER Brazil’s November 2023 account, the central bassin brought the property’s pink architecture into a single composition, with courtyards and gardens extending that visual order. The hotel was described through movement between these spaces, not just the dimensions of a room.
Pavilions and maisons offered different arrangements within the grounds. The archive’s account of a two-storey maison emphasised its pool, living area and connection to an enclosed garden. High vaults and arches gave the interior another scale, while fireplaces and lanterns introduced more intimate points of focus.
Materials carried much of the character: Berber carpets, zellij tilework and green marble appeared alongside the repeated pink surfaces. Rather than presenting each as an isolated decorative reference, the architecture used them to establish a sequence of thresholds between room, courtyard and garden.
The Moroccan restaurant extended that setting through a courtyard and music associated with several regional traditions. Nama supplied a Japanese dining counterpoint in the original report. These are descriptions of the 2023 experience, not a current menu or entertainment schedule.
Olive trees, palms and views towards the Atlas formed part of the wider landscape in the account. The hotel’s strongest quality in that portrait is compositional: buildings, water and planting are treated as parts of one spatial idea. It is a useful reading of Amanjena without the need for exaggerated geography or promises about an unchanged future stay.
