Brunch changes a restaurant’s timetable and, with it, the kinds of dishes that can share a table. LouLou’s 2024 programme used that interval between breakfast and lunch to bring French café references into São Paulo’s Jardins.

WAYFARER’s March report described the restaurant on Rua Barão de Capanema, developed by Léo Cury and Rapha Mendonça. Its interiors drew on the bistro, giving the meal a familiar setting before the food expanded the format.

Bread before the larger plate

Baker Rodolfo Nunes supplied baskets of small breads and croissants, served with accompaniments including herb butter and jam. Blueberry muffins, cheese crêpes with red-fruit sauce and pain perdu widened the baking sequence.

Omelettes, croque monsieur and croque madame provided another route through the menu. Chef Kleber Klock’s preparations extended towards eggs Benedict and Florentine, salmon-and-avocado toast and beef Wellington.

The range explains the attraction of the format more clearly than a list of notable guests. Several appetites could coexist: a basket of bread, eggs, a sweet dish or a more substantial main course.

The Sunday arrangements described in the archive are not presented as a current schedule. LouLou’s record is of an attempt to make the bistro’s food and social rhythm work across a longer portion of the day, rather than confine it to dinner.
