A street can act as a small cultural map. On Dias Ferreira in Leblon, food and art occupy neighbouring doorways, making the distance between them a matter of a short walk.

WAYFARER Brazil’s July 2024 account included Flexa, the gallery that had opened that May. Its inaugural exhibition, Rio: a medida da terra, brought together work spanning the nineteenth century to the present of the show. The city served as subject and inspiration, with artists including Marcia Falcão, Panmela Castro and Allan Weber appearing alongside earlier names.

The restaurant sequence supplied a different reading of the same street. Sei Shiroma’s Ferro e Farinha and Suibi connected pizza and Japanese cooking through a chef with New York references. At Clan BBQ, Pepo Figueiredo and Newton Rique worked around the grill. Pedro Siqueira’s Massa and Ella brought fresh pasta and pizza into the picture.

Claude Troisgros’s CT Boucherie offered another register, with a frontage that borrowed from the French butcher’s shop. The addresses and exhibition belong to the original 2024 portrait and have not been rechecked as a present itinerary. Read as an archive, the story is less about ticking off venues than recognising a street’s capacity to hold different kinds of appetite. Art on one side, a table on the other, Rio between them.
