Smooth leather and a concealed fastening gave house references a different construction.

A new bag can remain recognisable without repeating the same surface. Bottega Veneta’s Ciao Ciao, described in WAYFARER’s March 2025 archive, placed familiar house references inside a smoother construction.

The source followed a body in smooth leather, with a sculptural knot and handle details connected to the Andiamo family. Those elements carried the relationship with the house’s existing vocabulary while allowing the overall form to take another direction.

A concealed fastening and additional straps were described as parts of its practical arrangement. The archive read the bag through movement and different ways of carrying it, rather than treating a front-facing product image as the whole design.

Its colour palette and relatively reduced surface gave the smaller construction details greater importance. A knot, a fastening or a handle could carry identity without needing to fill the entire object with a pattern.

This adaptation does not verify celebrity use, stock or claims that the bag became a defining market trend. It preserves the design reading in the original account. Continuity comes from the relationship between details, not from exact repetition. Ciao Ciao entered that relationship as another interpretation of the house’s established forms.
