An apartment gives a stay a different set of possibilities from a conventional hotel room. ANDO Living’s proposition was to keep that domestic scale while adding the support normally associated with a hotel.

WAYFARER’s September 2025 account described the Portuguese brand’s use of restored historic buildings. Contemporary interiors and natural materials were intended to sit within the earlier architecture, rather than make every property look detached from its city.

Time as part of the format

The source placed slow living at the centre of the company’s presentation. In practical terms, the apartment model could give guests more space for everyday routines, while services reduced some of the work of maintaining them away from home.

Cofounder Charles Wanecq’s comments in the original report emphasised a sense of belonging and connection with local culture. They were the brand’s stated aims, not proof that every stay produced the same experience.

The source’s claim to a category-wide European first is not repeated without independent verification. Nor does this adaptation treat the company’s philosophy as a demonstrated global change in consumer behaviour.

The format is substantial enough on its own: a private apartment inside a building with a particular history, backed by hospitality services. Its success depends on how well those parts work together, rather than on the use of slow living as an attractive label.
