The August 2026 announcement joined complicated watches with the crafts of their surfaces.

A watch exhibition can make visible work that usually occupies only a few centimetres. Patek Philippe’s August 2026 announcement for its Milan Watch Art Grand Exhibition placed mechanisms and decorative crafts within a shared programme.
The Palazzo delle Scintille was named as the setting for the proposed October presentation. Historical objects and contemporary collections were to sit alongside complicated watches and demonstrations of making.
Rare Handcrafts supplied another scale of attention. Enamel, engraving, marquetry and guilloché move the eye from what a watch measures to the way its surface is constructed.
The combination gives an exhibition a purpose beyond assembling desirable objects. Technical and decorative decisions can be read together, allowing someone to see a watch as a sequence of different kinds of work rather than only as a name on a dial.
