An airline anniversary can be told through the clothes worn by its crews. Air France’s ninetieth-year celebration in Rio de Janeiro placed thirteen historic uniforms at the foot of Christ the Redeemer in November 2023.

WAYFARER’s report described an evening lighting presentation in blue, white and red at the sanctuary. The monument provided a Rio setting for an occasion tied to the company’s long connection with the city.

The uniform sequence began with a male design from 1933. Dior’s 1962 creation and Balenciaga’s 1969 design appeared alongside Jean Patou’s 1976 Concorde uniform and Christian Lacroix’s 2005 work, giving the presentation a chronology of fashion references.

A gathering at Hotel Vila Santa Teresa followed, with its view towards the monument’s lighting. The report named Air France chief executive Anne Rigail among those attending that 2023 occasion.
