The 2025 recognition placed a familiar Rio landmark in an international readers’ survey.

An award is most useful when its category and source remain visible. WAYFARER’s October 2025 account recorded Copacabana Palace as the leading South American hotel in the UK Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards for that year.
The distinction reflected a readers’ vote. It was not an independent inspection conducted by WAYFARER, nor a universal ranking of every hotel. Keeping that context allows the recognition to be read without giving it a broader meaning than the source supports.
The archive connected the result with the Belmond property’s long place in Rio de Janeiro. Service, food and the relationship with the city formed the account’s main themes, alongside the hotel’s role as a recognisable Brazilian hospitality address.
Hotel das Cataratas supplied another Brazilian point within the group’s wider network. The report also looked back to Belmond’s international history, treating the Rio landmark as part of a collection of properties with distinctive settings.
