The Cinquecento's recognisable form gave electric propulsion an established visual identity.

An electric car does not always need an unfamiliar silhouette. The Fiat 500e carries the Cinquecento’s recognisable outline into a different propulsion system, keeping the small urban car’s visual argument legible.
The version introduced in Brazil in 2021 retained the compact hatchback format. Rounded surfaces and a short body connected it with earlier versions of the 500, while the cabin’s central screen gave the interior another organisation.
Its design proposition remained specific: a small car for streets, manoeuvring and everyday urban distances, rather than an attempt to become every kind of vehicle.
That continuity is worth distinguishing from nostalgia alone. Familiar proportions can make a technical change easier to understand. The new system sits within an existing idea of how a car occupies the city, even as the practical questions of charging and use change.
