The line's 2024 Brazilian launch connected a camera with the practical gesture of printing.

A photograph changes its place in daily life when it becomes a small printed object. Kodak’s Mini Shot Retro line, introduced in Brazil in March 2024, connected that gesture with a digital camera and Bluetooth printing.
The rectangular and square formats gave the same general proposition different proportions. Images made on a phone could join those taken with the device itself, moving from a screen to a surface that could be passed around.
That flexibility distinguished the product from a purely analogue instant camera. The printed result could come after selection rather than immediately after the shutter.
The useful question was not whether one format would replace another. It was what someone wanted to do with the picture: keep it in a digital stream, give it to another person or let it occupy a visible place in a room.
