Lilian Camelli: the rooms we carry with us
Between Paraguay and Brazil, a painter turns family photographs, empty interiors and lace into a language of memory.

Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Brazilian delegation gathered for the film’s official festival screening.

A film’s festival arrival is also an encounter between its makers and its first international audience. For The Secret Agent, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, WAYFARER’s May 2025 archive recorded that encounter at Cannes.
The original article described a standing reception after the official screening on 18 May. Mendonça Filho thanked the technical team and cast, keeping the people responsible for the production within the account of the evening.
Wagner Moura, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Gabriel Leone, Alice Carvalho, Carlos Francisco and Roney Vilela were among the cast members named. Producers Emilie Lesclaux, Fred Burle and Erik Glijnis also appeared in the Brazilian delegation.
On the red carpet, a brass ensemble played O Que Será, associated with Chico Buarque and Milton Nascimento. The musical choice brought a recognisable Brazilian reference into a setting otherwise defined by the festival’s international procession.
The source was written at the premiere stage, before it could account for the film’s subsequent release or reception. This adaptation therefore does not offer a current screening guide or extend the report into a critical review. Its focus remains that first Cannes evening: a director, an ensemble and a Brazilian musical reference arriving together on the Croisette.
Adapted from the WAYFARER Brazil archive, first published 2025-05-19. English adaptation: 6 October 2026. This is an archival account, not a report of a new visit. Exhibitions, collections and menu details are described in their original context, not as current availability.
