Jockey Society: another life around the racecourse

A September 2025 proposal connected Cidade Jardim's rooms with a wider social programme.

A racecourse holds more than the track at its centre. The Jockey Society project, introduced in September 2025 by PHD Eventos, proposed new uses for the rooms of São Paulo’s Hipódromo da Cidade Jardim.

Brunches, guided visits, a sports bar and concerts formed part of the announced programme. The intention was to give people reasons to encounter the setting outside the immediate timetable of a race.

Art and architecture already supplied a substantial vocabulary, including works by Victor Brecheret and Bernard Dunand. The Paddock Club’s relationship with the track and the skyline added another physical distinction.

Such a project is most interesting when the earlier building remains legible. A new programme need not erase a place’s character. It can let visitors discover that character through different kinds of gathering and a longer part of the day.
