For a furniture company, a showroom is an argument about context. Ornare’s Milan flagship proposal put its work inside Palazzo Gallarati, an eighteenth-century building on Via Manzoni, rather than a room without a history of its own.

WAYFARER’s April 2024 announcement described a 450-square-metre store scheduled to open that month in the Quadrilatero della Moda. This adaptation records that announcement; it does not independently establish the store’s subsequent opening or present-day operation.

Timber and the fitted room

The planned display centred on the Timeless Collection, created by Studio Ornare under Murillo Schattan’s direction. The range included shelving, wardrobes, dressing furniture, a desk and a bar, treating the interior as a connected set of uses.

The company described certified solid wood combined with contemporary production methods. That is a material claim from the original announcement, not a separate environmental audit.

Colette, introduced as a 2024 line, used a different language. References to boiserie appeared in framed doors, shelving, cornices, brackets, furniture feet and other components. Its subject was the articulation of a room’s surfaces as much as the placement of individual objects.

Showing those two approaches together gave the Milan project a useful tension: simplified timber furniture beside a more ornamental architectural vocabulary. The setting in a historic palazzo made that conversation visible. The Brazilian company’s international expansion could then be read through the room, rather than only through the address.
