Emotions of the Sun brought forty photographs and a shared theme into a Veuve Clicquot–Magnum collaboration.

A shared subject does not require a shared view. Emotions of the Sun asked eight photographers to work with sunlight as a starting point, allowing geography and individual practice to pull the images in different directions.
WAYFARER’s April 2024 report described the Veuve Clicquot and Magnum Photos collaboration through forty new photographs made in eight countries. Steve McCurry, Alex Webb, Trent Parke and Olivia Arthur were among the participating artists.
Lindokuhle Sobekwa, Cristina de Middel, Nanna Heitmann and Newsha Tavakolian completed the group named in the source. Independent curator and photography historian Pauline Vermare worked on a project moving between outdoor spaces and more intimate interiors.
The announcement also connected the travelling exhibition with a seasonal dining programme called Sun on the Plate. Vegetables, fruit and local products supplied the culinary response to a theme otherwise explored through photographs.
What remains clear is the project’s structure: one theme, several countries and eight authors, with the differences between their images as important as the title joining them.
