Breguet Expérimentale 1: precision as a design argument
A magnetic escapement and a 10 Hz tourbillon bring the manufacture’s research into the visible architecture of a watch.

The 2025 design concentrated on continuous form, leaving the familiar animal reference to emerge through proportion.

An established symbol can become more recognisable through what is removed. Bulgari’s Serpenti Aeterna, discussed in April 2025, reduced the serpent’s visible detail while keeping its movement around the wrist.
WAYFARER’s account placed the design within the house’s longer Serpenti vocabulary. Instead of literal eyes and scales dominating the surface, a continuous form carried the animal reference. Gold and diamonds worked within that outline rather than supplying a separate decorative narrative.
Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani’s approach, as described in the original presentation, was to concentrate the serpent into a small number of decisive lines. An integrated fastening supported the continuity, while a hexagonal scale reference on the reverse retained a less immediately visible connection to the family.
The adaptation treats Aeterna as a design subject, without repeating uncertain movement configurations or claiming to have tested it on the wrist. Bulgari’s own horology presentation provides the collection reference. The useful idea is reduction without anonymity. Removing a motif’s most literal signs does not necessarily make it disappear. The silhouette, its direction and the way it meets the body can continue to carry the image.
