Primitivo: eight bungalows on the Alagoas coast
At Praia dos Morros de Camaragibe, a small hotel makes its case through the spacing between its buildings and the materials close at hand.
Reportage / New York
In DUMBO, an East River address connects Manhattan views with a deliberately tactile interior language.

Manhattan is the view, but Brooklyn supplies the position. At 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, the East River and the bridge establish the hotel’s relationship with New York before a guest encounters its interiors. WAYFARER Brazil’s November 2024 account then turns to a different register: timber, textiles and the material texture of the rooms.
The article describes reclaimed wood, organic fabrics and recycled materials as central to the design. Those choices give the building a visual identity distinct from a conventional polished urban hotel. They also express the brand’s environmental intentions, although a description of materials is not, by itself, an independent assessment of the property’s environmental performance.
Large windows keep the river and skyline in the composition. Above the rooms, the rooftop pool and Harriet’s bar offer another way of looking across the city, making the hotel’s position part of its social life as well as its architecture. The perspective is especially characteristic of DUMBO: close to Manhattan, but visibly outside it.
The Osprey restaurant appeared in the original account as a seasonal dining address. Bamford spa treatments, yoga and cultural activities added other uses to the building, allowing a stay to move between the neighbourhood and the hotel’s own spaces.
What holds the portrait together is the balance between metropolitan scale and close-up detail. The skyline is familiar; the interest lies in how the hotel frames it, and in the rougher, softer surfaces that accompany it. Menus, programmes and rooftop access described in 2024 should not be assumed to remain unchanged.
