TRAVEL
Zamara Private turns the safari base into a shared residence. Great Plains’ Kenyan property is a six-suite villa in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, designed for a family or a group that wants to stay together rather than occupy separate rooms in a larger camp.
Two principal suites and four additional suites accommodate up to twelve guests. The exclusive-use arrangement includes a chef and guiding team, giving meals and safari departures a continuity suited to the people travelling together. A deck, a 15-by-5-metre pool and a rooftop dining area extend the house outdoors.
Dinner beneath the stars is part of the appeal, but the reason for the address remains the reserve beyond the villa. Guided drives introduce the landscape and wildlife of the Maasai Mara, with sightings dependent on the conditions of the day rather than any guaranteed sequence of encounters.
The property’s distinction lies in that balance. There is room for individual routines within the house, and a shared setting for meals and the return from the field. The safari remains an encounter with a living landscape; the residence gives the group a place from which to experience it together.
