AP House London: the watch inside a Mayfair townhouse

On Clifford Street, Audemars Piguet gives collecting a domestic sequence of archive, display, conversation and hospitality.

A small mechanical object can change the use of an entire house. At Audemars Piguet’s London address, watches sit inside a sequence of rooms designed to make the encounter longer than a transaction across a counter.

AP House occupies 9 Clifford Street in Mayfair. The official store listing confirms the address, while the neighbourhood’s Bond Street account describes a restored Grade II-listed townhouse whose origins date to 1719.

A house instead of a sales floor

The AP House concept began in 2017, developed with clients and collectors around a domestic model of welcome. London translates that idea into a building with stairs, rooms and a rooftop terrace.

The distinction is spatial before it is rhetorical. A conventional shop can organise attention through a direct line of counters and showcases. A house provides several possible places to pause, return to an object or continue a conversation.

The March 2026 account described four floors, a piano, a dining table and a bar. These objects give the rooms functions that do not depend on a watch being placed immediately in front of the visitor.

London and the Vallée de Joux

Copper and mesh introduce industrial references, while stone and greenery connect the interior to the Swiss landscape associated with the manufacture. The contrast is a material one, not simply an arrangement of national symbols.

The Bond Street account identifies a circular watch display inspired by whisky distilleries. Its surrounding room changes the relationship between the precision of the object and the scale of the architecture.

A watch requires close examination. A townhouse invites movement. Bringing the two together means the interior must support both the concentrated look and the less directed passage from one setting to another.

An archive beside the current collection

Historical timepieces, advertisements and drawings introduce the brand’s earlier work. Contemporary watches appear in another display setting, with smaller alcoves allowing closer attention.

The value of that sequence is comparison. An advertisement records how an object was presented; a drawing can reveal decisions that the finished piece conceals. The current collection then enters a conversation already shaped by different kinds of evidence.

Art and hospitality widen the programme, but an event described in a project account should not be treated as something automatically included in every appointment. A live music evening, a tasting and a watch consultation are distinct arrangements.

What to ask before visiting

Contact AP House directly about the intended appointment. A beautifully designed room is not a guarantee that a particular watch is available, nor does an introduction establish a right to buy a scarce reference.

The architecture is worth considering on its own terms: a small object has been given a larger social setting, while the restored townhouse offers a recognisable London frame for a Swiss manufacture.
