Breguet Expérimentale 1: precision as a design argument
A magnetic escapement and a 10 Hz tourbillon bring the manufacture’s research into the visible architecture of a watch.

A new 1,083cc V-twin and titanium chassis give the Aston Martin and Brough Superior collaboration a different brief from its track-only predecessors.

A road motorcycle has to answer questions that a track-only machine can leave outside the circuit. The AMB 002 is the first road-legal model from Aston Martin and Brough Superior’s partnership, changing the brief from a specialised performance object to a machine intended for road riders.
The September 2026 manufacturer statement limits production to 300 motorcycles, with first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. This is an examination of the announced design and specifications, not a road test or a report of deliveries already completed.
Aston Martin quotes a new 1,083cc water-cooled V-twin producing 130 bhp and 110 Nm. Brough Superior designs, machines and assembles the engine in Toulouse. The stated emphasis is on low- and mid-range torque, a different argument from treating peak output as the whole character of a motorcycle.
Torque delivery, response and gearing will matter to how that argument feels on the road. A specification sheet can establish the intended architecture, but it cannot establish the quality of the throttle response or the confidence a rider will find in a particular corner. Those require a properly conducted test.
The manufacturer describes a titanium backbone frame milled from billet and weighing 5kg, with carbon-fibre body elements and fuel tank. Its quoted overall weight is 190kg, without a dry-versus-kerb definition in the cited announcement. That number should therefore not be presented as a verified kerb weight.
Brough Superior’s model specifications describe a Fior-type double-wishbone front suspension rather than a conventional telescopic fork. Separating aspects of steering and braking behaviour is the technical proposition. The manufacturer’s handling claims remain claims until independent testing examines them.
The AMB 002 carries Aston Martin design references through the bodywork, side details and lighting. Their purpose is not to turn the motorcycle into a car with two wheels. The more convincing relationship is between a recognisable design language and the exposed engineering a motorcycle cannot conceal in the same way.
The rider is part of the composition. Tank, saddle, controls and the geometry of the front end have to work around a moving body. An attractive profile is only one part of that relationship.
Engine: 1,083cc water-cooled V-twin. Output: 130 bhp, 110 Nm. Transmission: six-speed. Wheelbase: 1,472mm. Seat height: 875mm with suspension fully extended. Production: 300 planned units. First deliveries: scheduled for Q3 2027.
The AMB 002’s relevance lies in the change of brief. A partnership known for track-only motorcycles now has to make its engineering intelligible on the road. The road will have the final word.
