Primitivo: eight bungalows on the Alagoas coast

Patrícia Anastassiadis’s design translated sea, hillside and mid-century references into the hotel’s rooms.

A seaside hotel can use its setting as more than a view. Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana’s interiors, designed by Patrícia Anastassiadis, brought references to the neighbourhood into the building’s material and colour vocabulary.
WAYFARER Brazil’s November 2024 portrait described blue and green tones alongside marble, timber and upholstered elements. The source connected the design with Copacabana’s 1950s imagery. That historical reference supplied a frame without turning every room into a reconstruction of the period.
Balconies and shared spaces offered another relationship with the landscape. The beach and Sugarloaf could become part of an ordinary movement through the hotel, from a room to a meal or a drink. Marine Restô and Spirit Copa Bar appeared in the account as different ways of occupying that setting.
No new stay, service assessment or loyalty-programme entitlement is claimed here. The original portrait’s interest is strongest when it stays with architecture and place. Copacabana has a visual identity that exists before a visitor arrives. The hotel’s design worked with that recognition, giving the coast a role inside the room as well as beyond the glass.
