Connected courtyards offer contrasting readings of Moroccan craft within the city's Kasbah district.
FROM THE WAYFARER BRAZIL ARCHIVE / English adaptation. Date shown is the original publication date.

La Sultana’s character is revealed through a sequence rather than a single grand room. WAYFARER Brazil’s December 2023 account followed a narrow approach in Marrakech’s Kasbah district into connected riads, each using a different arrangement of materials and colour.
Riad Scheherazade appeared in pale pink, with worked stucco and zellij. Riad Saadia introduced carved cedar and deeper colours. White stucco and marble gave Riad Sabaa another register, while brick arches and a blue pool established the central image of Riad Almohad. The movement between them made difference part of the hotel’s architecture.
Plants softened those changes of surface. Palms and other foliage joined water and the rhythm of the arches, creating enclosed views quite distinct from the surrounding streets. At night, the original account described lanterns altering the atmosphere of the courtyard dining spaces.
The 28 rooms and suites were presented as individual settings for Moroccan craftsmanship. The important detail was not uniformity, but the continuation of the riads’ varied character through carved ceilings, fabrics and bathroom surfaces.
The rooftop returned the visitor to a broader cityscape of roofs and minarets. La Table du Souk supplied a Mediterranean dining counterpoint in that account, without replacing the building’s Moroccan material vocabulary. Menus and access should be checked for a future stay. As an architectural portrait, the archive shows how a compact urban hotel can contain several distinct spatial experiences without losing the coherence of a house.
