A sofa can organise a room rather than merely occupy it. That was the most tangible proposition in WAYFARER Brazil’s April 2025 account of Natuzzi Italia’s Rooted in Harmony collection, presented during Milan Design Week. Andrea Steidl’s Amama treated seating as a system of related surfaces and uses.

The collection drew on the company’s Puglian origins and appeared at its Via Durini showroom. Within the wider Circle of Harmony project, collaborations with designers including Karim Rashid, Marcantonio and Mauro Lipparini placed that regional identity in dialogue with different contemporary practices.

Amama made the argument through its construction. Arms and back elements could become shelves, tables or supporting surfaces, extending the furniture’s role beyond sitting. Modular arrangements allowed the composition to respond to a room and the ways people might gather within it.

The archive read these overlapping functions as an architectural approach to domestic furniture. Solid forms and softer components were intended to work together, rather than leaving practical objects scattered around an otherwise self-contained sofa.

Additional lighting, rugs and tables extended the collection into a broader interior vocabulary. Brand statements about wellbeing remain statements of intent, not health guarantees. The more useful design observation is specific: integrated surfaces can change how a living area is used. In this 2025 presentation, the metaphor of roots became most convincing when translated into the connections between objects and everyday activities.
